Labrador Retriever - Corabelle - Medium - Young - Female - Dog
The Helotes Humane Society is a non profit organization dedicated to placing unwanted animals in loving homes. Remember, don't shop, adopt! Lover of children, chew bones, and sleeping Corabelle is a sweet and spunky gal. She loves to play and explore with the other pups, followed by a long nap inside with the family. She is crate-trained and house-trainined. Corabelle is a great listener, enjoys sitting for attention, and is an excellent cuddler. Her favorite thing to do is chew on bones, and she is a pro, but she prefers to keep her bone all to herself to keep her bone from getting cooties from the others. Corabelle is always happy, wagging her tail almost constantly; she is such an appreciative dog. Corabelle is extremely smart and will make a wonderful companion or service/therapy dog. She is excellent with children of all ages, even toddlers who seem to think she is a horse. Corabelle is about 11 months old, up-to-date on all her shots, spayed, and microchipped. Corabelle's Story... Corabelle was found with her brother, probably dumped, on a country road in Atascosa, Texas. Alister, the 'big brother' was wandering along the edge of the road, near the overgrown grass, weeds, bushes, and treeline. With the many many strays out in the country, I didn't think much of it until we got closer and I could see he was only about 9 weeks old, only about 2 weeks older than our own foster litter at home. When I got out of the car to get him, his sister Corabelle came out of the overgrown weeds. Both pups were very hungry, smelly, and suffering from mange. I placed them into my car on the floorboard and they curled up and went right to sleep. They slept the whole trip home and practically inhaled food and water as soon as we arrived. They had a bath and then they curled up and went right back to sleep. These very bonded siblings have stayed by each other's side and cared for each other during their journey back to health. Both have undergone treatment for mange and are now 'fit for duty'. Corabelle was in worse shape than Alister, probably because of her petite size, but even she doubled her coat within about 2 days after her treatment. Both pups have perked up quite a bit and love to play together. They are always happy to eat and drink water, constantly wagging their tails. These babies are lucky to be alive and we can tell they are very thankful. For more information about Corabelle, please contact her foster directly at [email removed]. All of our animals receive vaccinations, testing and altering appropriate for their age. All pets will be microchipped prior to placement. The pet overpopulation problem has reached a crisis stage. We will use all of our resources to spay and neuter all pets in our care.
